Top Vehicle Dealer Claims Luxury Cars Allegedly
Owned by Ganduje’s Son
One of the major dealers of luxury cars in Nigeria,
Alhaji Najib Koguna, has claimed ownership of posh cars posted online via a twitter
handle allegedly operated by Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje’s son,
Mohammed.
An online news medium recently stirred controversy after
publishing pictures of some exotic cars and wrist watches allegedly owned by
20-year-old son of the state governor.
But Koguna said the pictures of the vehicles published online
were snapped at his Kano home, saying he easily identified the cars as the
number plates bore his ‘NK’ initials.
“I was surprised to see my cars circulating online. I don’t
even know who trespassed into my house to take the pictures. The number plates
bear my ‘NK’ initials and the background is my house,” Koguna said.
He explained that none of the cars were sold in Kano, noting
that one of them was shipped back to Europe and sold there.
“As a matter of fact, none of the cars was even sold in Kano.
I sold the Porsche, the BMW and the Range Rover in 2014 at different places in
Nigeria, while the Ferrari was shipped back to Germany when it remained unsold
in Nigeria for a long time. The Jaguar still remains unsold in my garage, while
the Peugeot is used for taking my children to school,” he clarified.
A family source who preferred anonymity said
Mohammed, a Business Administration student at American University, Sharjah, United
Arab Emirate, has not been in Nigeria in the last one year.
“Mohammed has been away for more than a
year. It is baffling to say he owns those vehicles, while in actual sense, the
boy did not even own a motorcycle. He does not even know how to drive. We
challenge those who attributed the cars to him to show the world Mohammed’s
pictures posing on the cars or driving the cars.
“It is saddening that some online
publications are nowadays used often as smear campaign than they are used for
disseminating factual information,” he added.
