Herdsmen on Monday evening attacked Omosu village of Ojiego ward in Okpokwu Local Government Area, killing scores of people while many others sustained critical injuries.
According to the council Chairman, Francis Olofu, who spoke to journalists on phone, over ten bodies of victims have been taken to St Mary hospital Okpoga while many other residents are still missing.
He said the attack took place around 5 pm.
The chairman also disclosed that the state Governor, Samuel Ortom, and security agencies are scheduled to visit the area tomorrow for on spot assessment.
Another resident of the area disclosed that over 40 members of the community have been killed by the herdsmen who attacked the area and were shooting sporadically at anyone Insight.
He said several women and children have been killed in the attack.
A call to state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Omoseni, to confirm the latest attack proved abortive as he neither picked his call or returned a text message from the reporter.
