Gombe State Governor, Alhaji Muhammad Inuwa-Yahaya, has
nominated and forwarded the names of four former members of the Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) who defected to the governing All Progressive Congress
(APC) and 14 others as Commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly.
The four nominees –
Dr Gana, Magaji Gettado, Zubairu Umar and Engineer Bappah – who defected to the
governing APC on the eve of the 2019 general election.
Also, Dr. Husseina Danjuma Goje, daughter of Senator
Muhammad Danjuma Goje, was among the nominees to be screened by the state House
of Assembly.
In a letter read by the Speaker, Abubakar Sadiq Kurba,
during plenary, the governor also nominated Senator Goje’s son-in-law, Ibrahim
Dasuki Jalo Waziri, as a commissioner.
Goje, who governed the state between 2003 and 2011, and is
the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, has played a
key role in the election that brought Governor Yahaya to power last March.
The governor was also Goje’s Commissioner for Finance for
seven years – 2003 to 2010.
Other nominees are Dr. Ahmad Gana; Dr Aishatu Usman Maigari;
Zubairu Mohammed Umar; Mohammed Magaji
Gettado; Mr Julius Ishaya, Mrs Naomi Joel Awak; Engineer Abubakar Bappah and
Muhammad Gambo Maigari.
Also nominated were
Malam Usman Jahun Biri; Alhaji Adamu Dishi; Alhaji Ibrahim Alhassan; Dr Habu
Dahiru; Dauda Batari Zambuk; Mijinyawa Yahaya; Mela Audu Nunge and Meshak
Lanco.
