Barely 24 hours after the multiple bomb blasts that
led to the death of 11 people and 14 injured, reports from Madagli Local Government
Area of Adamawa State indicated that hunters/vigilante group last Saturday morning
killed seven members of Boko Haram sect in Sabongari village.
The reports also stated that the hunters also seized
a machine gun in Sabongari village in Madagali belonging to the terrorists.
Eyewitness also reported that the insurgents came
to Madagli again not up to 24 hours to surprise the security men with an attack
thinking that the last Friday multiple blasts might have diverted their
attention but were repelled and seven of them met their water loo.
A member of vigilante group, who also confirmed the
attack, said the insurgents thronged the village in large number but met resistance
from a group of hunters and vigilantes who forced them to flee to unknown
destination after exchange of fire.
"Seven of the terrorists died in the encounter;
we seized a machine gun belonging to them and forced them to flee to an unknown
destination.
According to him, "The terrorists have not
given up; they are making frantic effort to recapture their enclaves in Sambisa
forest which allow them to coordinate their operations freely without being
interrupted."
The Council Chairman of Madagali, Yusuf Muhammad,
who also confirmed the attack, said only one member of the Boko Haram sect was
killed by soldiers.
The spokesman of the 28 Task Force Battalion in
Mubi, Major Badare Akintoye, said he would get back to THISDAY when he got the
necessary details at the time of sending this report.
However, since the liberation of Madagali area from
the control of the Boko Haram in 2015 by military, the area have suffered
series of attacks following its closeness to Sambisa forest and its borders
with Gwoza town in Borno State.
Security experts said the mountainous terrain in the
areas has always shielded the terrorist from being bombarded by the military
air fighters.
