The former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has advised his successor, Chief Willie Obiano, to focus on telling the people of the state what he has done for them for four years, rather than using the "non-existent demand for N7 billion" as an excuse to hide his gross incompetence.
Obi stated this while reacting to the statement credited to Obiano yesterday, alleging that Obi demanded N7 billion from him.
Responding through his Special Adviser, Mr. Valentine Obienyem, in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja, the former governor said now is campaign time and that rather than tell the people of the state what he has done for them, Obiano is busy sponsoring people on different media to say he demanded N7 billion from him, which he said was entirely false.
The statement added that “now he has even on his own false world accepted that he did not give the N7 billion to anybody; he should go ahead and tell Anambra people what he used their money to do, bearing in mind that major projects in the state such as roads, Awka and Nnewi malls as well as Onitsha and Agulu Hotels among others, remain abandoned.”
According to the statement, “We know the governor has many questions to answer and cannot run away from them through blackmail.
"For instance, on the issue of the N75 billion Obi left for him, he tried to deny it by saying he met ‘near cash’, we went on and published the banks and account numbers where the money were and the bank certified statement of accounts, but they tactically kept quiet.
“To refresh our minds, Obi left N2,139,951,400 billion in First Bank (Acc no. 2018779464) for Oko erosion; N4,909,576,925.98 billion in Sure-P Diamond Bank account (0026290200); N1,782,568,032 billion in UBEC 1 Diamond Bank account(0023484282); N2,101,864,766 billion UBEC 2 Diamond Bank account (0031151473); over N4 billion in many MDG accounts one of which was the N3,048,355,196 billion in Fidelity Bank(5030047097); over N35 billion cash (set aside funds added) in all the banks.
"Obi also left $156 million in Fidelity Bank ($56 million) ; Diamond Bank ($50 million); and Access Bank ($50 million)."
The former governor added that if left as Anambra State Future Growth Funds-as conceived by Obi-the money with interest and accruals would have been about N200 billion, alleged that Obiano has sold all of them.
The statement continued: "In fact, it was one of the disagreements about the sale that led Mr. Oseloka Obaze to resign. Obiano should be busy telling us the status of these monies rather than his current blackmail.
“Now is also the time for Obiano to justify before Anambra people why he takes N1.2 billion as security votes, which is the biggest in Nigeria relative to income.”
The statement alleged that what was curious was that within his first six months in office, Obiano wired all the money in MDG account, with which schools and hospitals get monetary and development support to his security vote.
It further said now was the time for Obiano to clear so many "lies" his administration has been dishing out to the people of the state, with the phantom $5 million ‘Ugu’ export as an example.
“As a seasonal vegetable, at least ‘Ugu’ would be exported once every year, but now, going to two years, we do not hear about it again.
"He recently told us that the state got the order to export 10 million tubers of yam, maybe he did not even realise that over 80 percent of yam consumed in state come from Benue and Taraba States.
"He also said that statew is now producing over 200 metric tons of rice, when even Stines company source rice from Ebonyi State,’’ Obi added.
The statement further said there were legion reasons why the governor of Anambra State does not merit a second term, adding that some of which included the signing of over 100 MoUs that are not functional; the claim that he attracted $7.5 billion investment to the state; and the concentration of 90 percent of his few development projects in his town.

FCTA Receives 10,000 Area Councils' Titles for Regularisation
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration has received over 10,000 area councils’ titles that have applied for regularisation through the Accelerated Area Councils and Sectional Titles Re-Issuance Scheme (AACSTRIS).
The disclosure was made yesterday by the Director of the Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS), Dr. Isa Jalo.
Jalo said the property owners in the FCT six area councils had come forward with customary titles as well as letters of offer from the councils, when the former firm handling the project, E-Angel Project Consortium Limited was still managing the exercise.
He further disclosed that 2,000 area council titles have been vetted under AACSTRIS and found to be genuine, and will soon be issued with the statutory Certificates of Occupancy.
Since the expiration of the E-Angel Project Consortium Limited contract in 2016, the project has now been taken over and coordinated by the Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS) to drive the scheme using existing institutions of land related departments.
According to him, all applications received and vetted under the project will now be processed by relevant statutory Departments with Desk Office already established at AGIS to provide information to applicants.
According to him, “All those with genuine title documents will be regularised and be issued with statutory Certificates of Occupancy.”
The director remarked that the FCT Administration under Muhammad Bello has brought sanity to the system by fortifying security around AGIS premises and pushing away the activities of touts who pose or pretend to be staff.
He similarly revealed that the FCT Administration was working round the clock to upgrade the services of AGIS not to only manage land but also the infrastructural aspect of the Federal Capital Territory being handled by the FCDA Engineering Services Department.
According to Jalo, the upgrade will also cover the sewer lines, water lines, environmental facilities and transportation system, noting that the FCT Development Control is already connected to the network.
He, however, called on the plot owners to endeavour to always pay their ground rents to enable the government provide more effective municipal services; adding that once property owners refuse to settle ground rent, the law permits total revocation.
