A member of the House of Representative, Hon. Mark
Gbilla, has chided President Muhammadu Buhari for his ‘undemocratic disposition
to governance’ even as he stated that the flouting of the rule of law with
impunity has affected the All Progressives Congress (APC)
According to him, "You can also see how we are
being told to suspend the rule of law for national security. These are the
alarming things we are hearing under this administration.”
The federal lawmaker representing Gwer West/East,
Benue State, in the National Assembly on Wednesday led the mass defection ceremony
of 8,000 in Naka, the Gwer West local area from the APC to the PDP
Addressing the gathering, the federal lawmakers
said they were leaving the APC with their supports after consulting widely with
major stakeholders in his constituency.
He said: "This is the axis that herdsmen
ravaged the most in our state apart from Makurdi, Guma and Logo Local Government
Areas, and in the midst of this, the lack of concern and indifference of the
APC-led federal government about the security of lives and property in our
state left us with no other option but to leave the party.
He said the Benue people were killed and chased away
from their communities and ancestral homes, while the federal government
feigned ignorance to the plight of the people despite our cries, including
Governor Samuel Ortom for help.
"It is also for the very undemocratic disposition
of the APC-led federal government which has chosen to flout the rule of law
with impunity that has chased us out of the party.
"You can also see how we are being told to
suspend the rule of law for national security. These are the alarming things we
are hearing under this administration,” he said.
