Edo State Governor Mr. Godwin Obaseki has explained
that his administration has made appreciable progress in the last two years due
to the solid foundation laid by his predecessors, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Meanwhile, the governor has announced that 100
roads in different parts of the state have been marked for rehabilitation
before the end of the year.
Obaseki stated this while addressing guests, All
Progressives Congress (APC) faithful and members of his executive council
during the luncheon which took place after Thanksgiving Service
held in Benin-city to celebrate his two years in office.
The governor commended his predecessor, who is also
the APC National Chairman, Oshiomhole, for the solid foundation of growth and
development laid which he said his administration is building on.
He said: "The struggle for us began 10 years
ago, and we promised change and the change is what we are experiencing today.
We have made appreciable progress, and the foundation laid by Oshiomhole made
it possible and easy for us to succeed."
Obaseki said two years on, the Edo people are
celebrating the progress made with verifiable evidences across the state.
He thanked the people of the state for their
support and encouragement as they have helped his administration perform better
thus far, adding: "God has endowed the state and place it in a unique
location. We all should be patient and trust in God to help us make more
progress."
While welcoming guests to the luncheon, the
Secretary to State Government (SSG), Barrister Osarodion Ogie, said God has
been faithful to Obaseki administration as he is already fulfilling the
electioneering promises made to the Edo people in the areas of job creation,
infrastructural, sport development, education, health among others.
"This celebration is to tell our people how far
we have gone in the fulfillment of our promises. For us, we are progressing as
all we promised in four years would be done in less than four years looking at
our progress so far in two years," he said.
