President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday inaugurated the
National Economic Council (NEC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
In his inaugural address, Buhari urged the council to focus
on security, agriculture, health, and economic development.
He also called on Governors to ensure that the next four
years should be on increasing Internally Generated Revenue, Value Added Tax,
and Agricultural Output.
The president further charged them to rally the Local
Government Chairmen in their states to work towards improving education.
In attendance at the inauguration were the Vice President,
Prof Yemi Osinbajo, state governors and their deputies.
Others present were Secretary to the Government of the
Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana
Monguno; Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, and CBN Governor, Godwin
Emefiele.
