The Kano State Police Command on Tuesday read the riot act
to riders of tricycles plying on highways and roads in the state.
The police alleged that the tricycle riders are causing
unnecessary and avoidable accidents and other related inconveniences.
A statement issued by the command spokesman, DSP Abdullahi
Haruna, on Tuesday and made available to journalists in Kano, said the Riders
must have authentic tricycle registration plate numbers and KAROTA number affix
appropriately on the tricycle.
The statement noted that "any person or persons seen
carrying passengers on his side or riding without due identification marks
would be arrested and prosecuted in court.”
The statement further stated that this is aimed at safeguarding the
lives and property of the good citizens of the state.
The Command said henceforth serious action would be taken on
riders carrying passengers on either side of the rider.
‘’Members of the public are advised to shun any tricyclist
overloading passengers or lacks identification marks in order to guarantee
their safety,” said the statement.
