The Akwa Ibom State Government on Tuesday received the
fourth aircraft, thus expanding the fleet of the Ibom Air from three to four
airplanes.
The latest is a 90-seater CRJ900 aircraft made by
bombardier with the registration number: 5N-BXP.
The aircraft comes with the current hyper
technology known as High Efficiency Air Filter (HEAF), a passenger safety
device against viruses, including coronavirus.
Receiving the plane, the state Governor, Mr. Udom
Emmanuel, noted that the aircraft is the latest in the fleet of the Sstate
aviation industry, stressing that it is still within warranty in the domestic
aviation.
"This
is the latest in this fleet, and when you have an airplane that is still within
warranty in the domestic aviation, you can beat your chest. You do not have to
be afraid of COVID-19," he said.
The state aviation industry, the governor said, would
keep growing with improvement especially with additional and the latest number
of four airplanes operated by Ibom Air.
Emmanuel said the dream of the state owning an Ibom
Air started in 2016, adding that experts have attested to the quality of
airplane owned and operated by Ibom Air.
"The air efficiency is super so nothing to worry
about, and also, our safety standard remains to be beaten by any other airline.
"I have the assurance of the management of the aircraft
business that they will maintain it, and instead of inefficiency, they will
improve as there is room for improvement," he stated.
On his own, the Chairman of Ibom Air Limited, Air Commodore
Idongesit Nkanga (rtd), eulogised the airplane and thanked God for its arrival.
