The Lagos State Police have arrested Ede Tyndale,
50, for allegedly defiling and the
continuous sexual assault of his 11-year-old daughter till she was age 19 in
Ikotun area of the state.
In a statement issued by the state police
spokesman, DSP Bala Elkana, on Sunday, wife of the alleged pedophile was said
to have reported the matter at the Ikotun police station, where they reside.
The complainant reported that her husband was
committing incest with their 19-year-old daughter since age 11.
Narrating the ordeal, she noted that trouble ensued
when she noticed some strange behaviour from her daughter, hence, she decided
to find out the reason for the sudden disrespect towards her father.
According to the girl, her father started having
sexual intercourse with her when she was age 11.
“He often threatened violence whenever I resisted
him. My father instilled so much fear in me that made it difficult to report to
anybody,” the survivor narrated.
This led to the immediate arrest of the suspect by
detectives from the Family Support Unit of the station, where he confessed to
the crime levelled against him.
The statement further noted that following a
thorough investigation into the case, the suspect was on May 11, 2020, charged
to the Chief Magistrate Court ll in Ogba on five-count charges of incest, rape,
sexual harassment, defilement and sexual assault.
While he has been remanded in the police custody,
the case has been adjourned until June 15 this year for further hearing.
