Former  Kaduna State Governor and Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Alhaji Balarabe Musa, has said he is delighted to welcome to the party, Prof. Attahiru Jega, a former Chairman of the  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), who  deregistered the party.

Jega recently declared his membership of the PRP and advocated for the strengthening of the party for future elections.

Responding to questions from journalists who paid him Sallah homage at his residence n Kaduna, Musa said PRP had to fight its illegal deregistration by Jega in court.
He touted Jega that he should not forget in a hurry that the PRP he is now romancing with was once deregistered by him.

Musa said although the party membership and reorganisation were thrown open to attract national outlook, he only learnt of Jega's membership on the pages of newspapers, even though  he said three months ago, the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Falalu Bello, hinted him  of Jega's interest to join the party.

The party BoT chairman said the party is a public property and cannot reject anyone wishing to join.

According to him, "We have to exercise care and caution because who is Prof. Attahiru Jega?  Jega was the INEC chairman, and under his chairmanship, PRP was deregistered.

“It became a big struggle for us. We approached the court, and the court reinstated the party.
“But we have to sue the INEC chairman for contempt of court because when the court gave the judgement that our party should be reinstated, he refused to give us the recognition.

"Today, the same person is coming to the party he once deregistered.
“However, he is welcome because we cannot reject him, and since our party is a public property and is open to everyone, he is welcome."
