Officer Crushed to Death in Kano by Reckless Driver

An officer with Kano State Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) was at the weekend killed after a trailer driver crushed him to death at Hotoro Mega Filling Station, an area in Kano metropolis.
This is coming just a day after the police in Kano succeeded in arresting a driver, Alkasim Usaini, who also smashed do death another official of the agency, Ahmad Tijjani, on October 29, 2019 while on duty.
In a statement signed the Public Relations Officer of the agency, Nabilisi Abubakar, and made available to journalists in Kano on Sunday, he narrated that the ill-fated officer simply identified as Abdulrahaman has been evacuated from the scene and rushed to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, but was pronounced dead before he was attended by the doctors on duty.

The Managing Director of the agency, Baffa Dan'Agundi, said the Agency is bereaved by the sad incidence.
Dan ‘Agundi, condoles the family members of the late officer and also warn the general public to desist from such act as the law would catch up with anyone who engages in committing such crime.
However, colleagues and other eye witness persons around the scene succeeded in preventing the driver from getting away, as he was arrested and handed over to the police in the area for further investigation.

Population of Doctors in Nigeria Hits 74,543

  The number of registered medical doctors in Nigeria has risen to 74,543. According to the federal government statistics, as at 2018, the stock of professionally regulated health workers in Nigeria health sector has also recorded a significant increase. The population equates to 36.3 percent of medical doctors per 100,000 population (doctor to population ratio of 1: 2753). Fifty-nine percent of the registered medical practitioners were in good standing with 35 percent being females. UBEC Board Chairman, Daughter Freed from Captivity

The Board Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Muhammed Mahmoud, and his daughter were on Tuesday released by their abductors. Mahmoud, his daughter and several other travellers were abducted last Monday on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway when suspected bandits open fire at them. The UBEC boss’ driver was said to have been killed during the incident. There has been no information about other commuters who were abducted by the bandits. Mahmood's freedom was confirmed in a telephone interview by Hussaini Danladi, a relation, who said they were freed from captivity at about noon yesterday.
