Novotel Port Harcourt: As Hotelier, we Have No Political Affiliations

Novotel Port Harcourt: As Hotelier, we Have No Political Affiliations

Novotel Hotels and Resorts in Port Harcourt, River State, has debunked the news making the rounds that the hotel is a “centre of electoral fraud and malpractices in Rivers State,” stating that it has no interest in politics or political stunts as a corporate entity.

In a statement released by the management of the hotel recently, Novotel Hotels and Resorts reassured the state Governor, Nyesome Wike, and the people of the state that the hotel has not and will not lend itself to any partisan or illegal activities in the state.

“As a corporate entity, Novotel is absolutely apolitical and it’s only concerned with carrying on legitimate business. For several years, there has been a mutually beneficial relationship with the government and people of the state and Novotel will continue to support the economic aspiration of the state,” the statement stated.
The company stated that the allegation in the media which painted Novotel Hotel Port Harcourt as a politically-based organisation and led to Wike’s directive that the hotel’s Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) be withdrawn is false and inaccurate as “Novotel is a legitimate business organisation which provides hotel and events hosting services for individuals and corporate organisation alike.”
Novotel was established in 2004 and invested in the state as called by the federal government and the state government to invest in the state. Novotel Port Harcourt, being a hotel, is a public place available for the accommodation of guests and hosting of events. Doors are open to paying guests, including participants and stakeholders on all sides of the political divide, government officials, corporates and individuals.
The hotel therefore appealed to the state governor to use his kind office to wave the directive on its revocation of C of O.
