Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Hon. Justice Walter Samuel Onnoghen, on Tuesday directed that all national flags in the premises of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and the CJN's official residence in the Three Arms Zone of Abuja be flown at half-mast.
The directive which was contained in a press statement issued by Awassam Bassey, Media Aide to Onnoghen was in commemoration of a Former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Dahiru Musdapher, whose demise was announced early morning of Tuesday.
The late Justice Musdapher, was said to have died in a London Hospital on Monday (22nd January, 2018).
Apart from the premises of the apex court, flags at all Judicial institutions, including the National Judicial Council (NJC), the National Judicial Institute (NJI) and the Federal Judicial Service Commission (FJSC), as well as all Courts of Records in the country are also to comply with the directive, the statement said.
The NJC it added was directed to send memos to all Heads of Courts to ensure compliance by all jurisdictions across the country.
The late Hon. Justice Dahiru Musdapher (CFR) served as the Chief Justice of Nigeria from 29th August 2011 - 16th July 2012.
"The chief Justice prays for the peaceful repose of Justice Musdapher and urges God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss", the statement read in part.
