Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, has
told former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar that time for his support for
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential ticket will be after they meet at the negotiation table in future, as he praised Atiku's energy in bringing the party together.
Both Dankwambo and Atiku are two staunch aspirants
for the PDP presidential ticket from the Northeast zone of the country.
Dankwambo stated this when the former vice president
visited the Government House in Gombe on Tuesday to seek his support for the
party's sole ticket for the 2019 presidential election.
According to the governor, delegates from Gombe
State will sit down and negotiate based on what will benefit the state and
Nigeria at large, adding: “More so, politics is about give and take.”
He commended Atiku for gingering and bringing life
back to party, stressing that the former vice-president has done a lot for the
progress of the party.
Dakwambo also said he believes the PDP is not a
party for nonentities.
The governor assured Atiku that the people of the
state would not engage in crude or arrogant way of doing politics as it was
done in the past, but would be involved in politics intellect, capability and
development.
Earlier, Atiku had commended the developmental
strides of Dankwambo in the state, and stressed the need for a united front
from the Northeast region to produce the next president of Nigeria.
While seeking the support of all, he assured Nigerians
of his readiness to work towards producing the next president of the country
from the Northeast. He stated that that can only be achieved if they are
united.
