After more than three weeks that he left the country, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is expected back before November 18, when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will lift ban on campaign.

Investigation by THISDAY revealed on Wednesday that information about when the former vice president would be back into the country has been kept within a close circle and those privy to the information have maintained a sealed lip.

But reliable sources told the paper that information about Atiku has been restricted to few people since his emergence, but they added that he would be back in the country in the next two weeks to roll out the campaign.

A reliable source told THISDAY that the PDP presidential campaign would be centralised and also directed to where the voters are, especially at the ward level.

Another source also said that no one really knows when Atiku is coming back, but said that he would be back before November 18.

According to the source, “We don’t really know when Atiku is coming back but he will be back before November 18.”

The source also told journalists that the main opposition party is also considering appointing Mr. Segun Sowumi as the Atiku presidential campaign spokesperson, despite Sowumi having a ticket to contest for the position of House of Representatives in his constituency under PDP in the 2019 elections.

The source also said contrary to what people believe, former Governor of Ogun state, Otuba Gbenga Daniel did not  recommend Sowumi to Atiku for the campaign spokesperson's job.
