Buhari’s Anti-corruption War Yielding Results, Ganduje Says

Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has acknowledged that the Muhammadu Buhari administration’s fight against corruption was proactive and yielding positive results.

“You can see that at least two former governors have been jailed because of corruption and several other similar prosecutions are taking place in the courts. So people who used to be corrupt as are afraid now.

“The government will continue to arrest them and prosecute those (corrupt people) through the judiciary and that is what they don’t want. The government will not be distracted by propaganda of those who don’t’ wish our country well," Ganduje added.

The governor in a statement on Thursday signed by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Aminu Kabir Yessar and made available to journalists in Kano , stated that Ganduje made the assertion during a meeting with the executive members of APC, UK Chapter at Park Lane Mews Hotel in London, UK.

In the area of security, the administration has taken serious steps to tackle Boko Haram while efforts are being made to bring to an end, the lingering herdsmen crisis in parts of the country, he added.

“Regarding our economy, the Federal government has banned the importation of rice, wheat and other products like tomato and this has encouraged more people to embrace farming, We now eat home grown food”, Governor Ganduje maintained.

According to Ganduje, “Fertilizer is not an issue now because of the arrangement between the Federal government and the government of Morocco. As a result, many fertilizer blending plants, like KASCO of Kano now work for 24 hours. The Federal government is providing enabling environment through fiscal policies and CBN interventions.

“We are working hard to bring the South East into the mainstream of Nigerian politics. The president is working on so many infrastructures in the region, Rochas is also doing his best to bring the South East, especially the elites into the fold of our party. We believe we will capture more states in the region in the future”, he assured Nigerians.

Governor Ganduje, who stressed the need for synergy between APC UK and the APC National Headquarters, enjoined members of the party to work relentlessly towards ensuring its victory in the 2019 general elections.

In his remarks earlier, the coordinator of the APC UK Prof. Ali Alao said they aimed to engage in global counter propaganda to mitigate the complexity propaganda by the opposition parties and their agents.
He however stated that they needed to engage more closely with the party rank and file as well as other stakeholders, with flow of information and sharing of expertise prior to 2019 election campaign.
