Former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Olusegun Obasanjo, Mr. Akin Osuntokun, has said the government of President Muhammadu Buhari has done more damage to the country than any other government before it.

Osuntokun, on The Morning Show on Arise TV, on  Monday said corruption has been thriving more in Buhar’s government than any previous government, which he insisted has been attested to by both local and international organisations.

He called the credibility of the president to question, saying his supposed stance on corruption is a myth.

“Transparency International actually rated Nigeria as more corrupt than ever before under Buhari.

“This government has a huge credibility gap, particularly the gap between rhetoric and what they do,” the former aide said.

He stated that in the last three and half years, corruption in high places has been glossed over without any repercussion.

Osuntokun warned that contrary to the impression being created by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is a corrupt party, “the reality is that the outcome of the 2019 elections will be a referendum about his governance since 2015.”

He insisted that the notion that the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, was corruption was all allegations which have never been proven.

“He (Atiku) has been out of government for over 11 years now, yet they say he is corrupt. Where are the proofs?” He queried.

On the National Assembly, Osuntokun is of the opinion that there may not be a substantial difference in the composition of the house as over 70 percent of the present members are set to return.

Also speaking, a political analyst, Mr. Femi Lawson, gave the National Assembly very high marks in the way they handled issues before them.

Lawson stated that while there was acrimony between the executive and the legislature, it did not affect issues that needed to be sorted out.
