A former National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie Oyegun, has said that former governors should not be desperate on ruling the state after their own tenures in office are clearly over.

Oyegun, in a statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Chief Ray Murphy, commended the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki,  for the effort he is making to move the state forward despite the difficulties and challenges of "meddlesome godfathers."

The APC chieftain "wondered why some ex governors are still bent on ruling the state when their own tenures in office are clearly over."

Oyegun also congratulated the newly-elected Speaker of Edo state House of Assembly Hon. Frank Okiye, saying that he believed that with the inauguration and election of a Speaker, the Edo State House of Assembly was poised to render services to the yearning people of Edo State.
