We'll Overcome Security Challenges, Says NSA

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Muhammad Babagana Mungono (rtd), said Nigeria would soon overcome security challenges facing it. Mungono disclosed this on Wednesday at the Government House in Sokoto State when he led a delegation to commiserate with the state Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and the people of the state over the recent bandits attack which claimed the lives of 74 persons. He added that he was in Katsina and Sokoto States in the instance of President Muhamnadu Buhari on assessment and consultation visit. According to the NSA, the president was extremely worried about the security situation in the North-west region, stressing that security matter is a collective efforts of all stakeholders. He said insecurity in some parts of the country has brought lack confidence in the system, adding that President Buhari has assured Nigerians that he would do everything humanly possible to curb the menace. "We are not dampening hope yet ‘Insha Allah’, we will overcome the challenges,” he said. Mungono further explained that the present administration has done a lot in the areas of security, saying earlier, security challenges were conventional, but now it has taken a new dimension in asymmetric manner where it required human, technical and signal intelligence. At the palace of the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar 111, NSA delivered the president heart felt condolence to the people of the state. He averred that the federal government has resolved to solving the security challenges in the country. Responding, Sultan thanked the president for remembering them at this trying period. He assured the NSA and his team of maximum support. Those in the entourage of the NSA were Inspector General of Police (IG), Muhammad Adamu Suleiman; Director-General of Department of State Service (DSS), Yusuf Magaji Bichi; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ahmad Abubakar, and the Director General of Defence Intelligence Agency.
