Kogi State University Expels 12 Students
The Senate of the Kogi State University, Anyigba, has
approved the expulsion of eight students over alleged examination malpractice,
forgery of documents and indecent acts.
The institution also withdrew three others for failure to
register for two consecutive semesters.
The institution in recent times, having been facing
series of cult activities which almost paralyses the academic season of the
institution.
Those expelled over examination malpractice are Otene
Mary (12EC1139, Economics); Adeyemi Victoria (13BF1081, Banking and Finance);
Egaji Ezekiel (11AG1087, Soil and Environmental MGT); Kolawole Samuel
(13AG1124, Agric Economics and Extension) and Daniel Joy Danty (12BA1075,
Business Admin), while those expelled for indecent behavior are: Aleremu
Victoria Iyanuoluwa (11BF1024, Banking and Finance) and Alaba Owolabi (13EC1159
Economics).
THISDAY also gathered that another 300 level student from the
department of Accounting, Elo Kenechukwu Queendaline (14AC3001), was expelled
for forging her transcript from University of Abuja with which she gained
admission into the university.
The three students withdrawn from the institution
for failure to register for two consecutive semesters are Umar Salisu
(13AC1201, Accounting); Ali Hammed Oladotun (13AC1047, Accounting) and Bello
Salim Omotayo (11CH1020, Chemistry).
A senior academic staff who doesn't want his name mentioned
disclosed to THISDAY that the expulsion and withdrawal of students are in line
with the university’s rules as enshrined in the students handbook and with regard
to the principal of fair hearing and due process.
