A civil society organisation, ‘OurMumuDonDo’,
spearheaded by popular musician and entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known
as Charly Boy, on Tuesday in Abuja mocked President Muhammadu Buhari government
as a hypocrite and 'one-chance' voyage plying Nigerians to perpetual doom and bare-faced acts
of corruption.
The group maintained that given the naked display
of corruption that has characterised the Buhari's administration, it will
continue its sit-out protest at the Unity Fountain in Abuja until the
government act on the various cases of alleged corruption perpetuated by top
hierarchy in the Buhari's government.
They accused Buhari as the architect of the recall
of former Head of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrashed
Maina, into the civil service, with a questionable promotion to the rank of a
director and payment of a whopping N22 million as salaries.
Co-convener of OurMumuDonDo, Deji Adeyanju,
explained that "Nigerians have entered 'one-chance' with the latest action
of the president," stating that "the same man who was sacked by the
President last Monday has disappeared into the thin air.
"What country is it where a man who was
declared wanted by the security agents was brought back into the country by the
cabal and the same man who was just sacked by
the president has just escaped over night?" He asked.
The group debunked claims by the presidency that
President Buhari was unaware of Maina's recall, stressing that the president
actually signed the letter of his reinstatement.
They argued that the public outcry against the
double standards exhibited by the Buhari's government might have prompted the president
to hurriedly call for the termination of Maina's appointment.
They accused the government of playing hanky-panky
on the matter, while at the same time, facilitating Maina's escape from the
country again.
"The president has again said an investigation
should be conducted but the same president has not acted on the report of
suspended Secretary to the Government of Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, and
Director General National Intelligence Agency ( NIA), Ayodele Oke,"
Adeyanju said.
He added that with the Maina's case,
"Nigerians have lost confidence and trust in the Buhari-led
government."
