Suspected Member of Badoo Escapes Lynching in Lagos

A suspected member of a notorious cult called Badoo at the weekend escaped from being lynched by an irate mob in Ikorodu community of Lagos State.

A video of the incident, which was posted on the Facebook page of Ikorodu Ambassadors Group headed by Rasheed Adedeji Fatuga, shows that it happened at Ijede area of Ikorodu.

Some of the residents, who were heard speaking Yoruba in the video, insisted that the suspect should be burnt alive while some pleaded that he should be spared.

While the suspect was questioned over a piece of paper found on him containing phone numbers, he (the suspect) claimed he was sent on an errand by his boss who is an artiste and that the phone numbers were for verification of clients addresses.

In another development, an attempted attack by the gang was averted by concerned residents at Eyita, Diasi Okeowo Street at Ikorodu.

The Ikorodu Ambassadors Group page on Facebook shared the recent development yesterday morning.

According to the post, “We are so sorry that this is coming a bit late. Now this is not to create panic or fear rather, it's an awareness that we need not deter from our vigilance, we need to be security conscious and be watchful. A reliable source sent this to us.

"Glory be to God for saving us in our area from the attack of Badoo gang on July 14. These pictures of cloth and mortar you see here were found where a suspected Badoo member sat and hid himself in an uncompleted building.

“At about 10:30pm, when power went off, my neighbour decided to check and search around his house that was when he saw the suspected Badoo member in an uncompleted building beside his apartment naked.

“Immediately he saw my neighbour, the suspect ran away. Then my neighbour raised the alarm and call for help; people gathered and started chasing him; the suspect jumped more than nine fences but men in the neighborhood surrounded the area to search for him, fortunately he was caught and was handed over to the police.
