APC Orders Fresh Registration, Revalidation Of Members

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has ordered the immediate recommencement of the Continuous Nationwide Membership Registration in all 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This was contained in a statement signed by the party’s acting National Publicity Secretary, Yekini Nabena, in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to the party, the decision was taken in response to calls from members of the public interested in joining the APC to support the change agenda of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
The statement read in part: “The exercise will include both fresh registrations and revalidation of existing membership for the purposes of issuance of the Party’s permanent memberships cards.
“We hereby urge our teeming supporters and members to take advantage of the exercise.”

Population of Doctors in Nigeria Hits 74,543

  The number of registered medical doctors in Nigeria has risen to 74,543. According to the federal government statistics, as at 2018, the stock of professionally regulated health workers in Nigeria health sector has also recorded a significant increase. The population equates to 36.3 percent of medical doctors per 100,000 population (doctor to population ratio of 1: 2753). Fifty-nine percent of the registered medical practitioners were in good standing with 35 percent being females. Drug Insecurity: House Urges FG to Fund Indigenous Drug Research

The House of Representatives on Tuesday urged the federal government to invest more in the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development in order to encourage local and indigenous research. The House also urged the government to revisit the National Drug Policy as a way to promote and boost the medical industry. It directed its Committees on Health Institutions, Health Care Services and Science and Technology to organise a round table discussion to chart a probable course for the development of locally made drugs.
