The All Progressives Congress (APC) will on August 28 hold its caucus meeting to confirm the timetable submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on its party congresses and primaries coming up in September.

The conduct will begin on September 8 to elect delegates to the National Convention while the presidential primaries to elect its presidential candidate will hold on the 19th of September.

The meeting is also to decide whether to use the direct or delegate system for the Congress.

The caucus meeting is a prelude to the party's national executive meeting which will hold on Thursday at the APC national Secretariat in Abuja.

It was gathered that most party members now prefer direct election system which was successfully adopted in Osun State and throws more popular candidates to win over the delegate system which only favours the "deep pockets" who are not necessarily the most popular and the system can be easily manipulated.

Confirming the meeting, the acting National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mr. Yekini Nabena said that the issue of direct and delegates conference is surely going to be discussed.
