Ex-Jigawa Gov, over 151,000 PDP Members Defect to APC, as Badaru Flags off 2019 Campaign

Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Muhammed Badaru Abubakar, on Tuesday received 151,500 members of the PDP to All Progressives Congress ( APC).


Among those who decamped from the PDP were former state Governor, Alhaji Ali Sa'ad‎ Birninkudu; former PDP governorship aspirants, Alhaji Danladi Auyo, and Alhaji Tijjani Ibrahim‎.




 Other defectors were former commissioners in the former Governor Sule Lamido’s government, including Alhaji Jinjiri Abdulkadir, Alhaji Nasidi Ali, Hajiya Fatima Wudi Jalo, Yakubu Ruba and Alhaji Auwalu Harbo.‎

Speaking at the occasion held in Dutse, the state capital, The State Governor,  Badaru, said the decamped members would be treated like old APC  ‎members, assuring them that the stewardship under his administration would respect them at all times as long as they stay in the party.

The governor also launched his second term campaign in Dutse yesterday, praising the former PDP members for their courage and statesmanship to move to APC.


The representative of the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, the National Organising Secretary, Mr. Emanuel Ibru, declared that the names and memberships of the decamped members would be protected‎ by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC.


Earlier, the state APC Chairman, Alhaji Ado Sani Kiri, said: "Today mark the end of PDP in Jigawa State as the party is now an empty warehouse in the state.




 “The former PDP members have realised that they have been living a fake life,‎ and that realisation is the beginning of wisdom for them.” 


Speaking also, the Deputy National Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Maimala Buni,‎ said: “There is no doubts that President Muhammadu Buhari would be Nigeria's president in 2019, and  Badaru would be the state governor."
