Queen Elizabeth's 2018 Christmas Message Calls For 'Respect' & 'Understanding'

In her annual Christmas message, Queen Elizabeth reflects on the year as it comes to an end, and looks ahead to the future. Since 1957, the speech has been broadcast on television.
The Queen's speech for 2018 urges listeners to "respect" one another, and to attempt to overcome even the "most deeply held differences."
During last year's speech, the Queen welcomed Meghan Markle into the family.
Every year, Queen Elizabeth addresses the world with her Christmas speech. The Queen delivered her very first Christmas broadcast on the radio on December 25, 1952, and now her speech is streamed live on the internet and broadcast on TV to people all over the world.

Revealed a day early via the @kensingtonroyal Instagram account, in 2018, the Queen urges listeners to overcome their differences and to understand one another. She says, "Through the many changes I have seen over the years-faith, family and friendship have been not only a constant for me but a source of personal comfort and reassurance. Even with the most deeply held differences, treating the other person with respect and as a fellow human-being is always a good first step towards greater understanding."

Her impassioned message goes out at a time when the world faces much uncertainty, especially considering the major changes the United Kingdom will presumably work through during Brexit in the coming months.
According to the BBC, Queen Elizabeth is wearing an "Angela Kelly ivory silk cocktail dress" to deliver her speech, accessorized with her gold Scarab brooch, which has ruby and diamond embellishments, and was a gift from her husband, Prince Philip, in 1966.

Population of Doctors in Nigeria Hits 74,543

  The number of registered medical doctors in Nigeria has risen to 74,543. According to the federal government statistics, as at 2018, the stock of professionally regulated health workers in Nigeria health sector has also recorded a significant increase. The population equates to 36.3 percent of medical doctors per 100,000 population (doctor to population ratio of 1: 2753). Fifty-nine percent of the registered medical practitioners were in good standing with 35 percent being females. UBEC Board Chairman, Daughter Freed from Captivity

The Board Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Muhammed Mahmoud, and his daughter were on Tuesday released by their abductors. Mahmoud, his daughter and several other travellers were abducted last Monday on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway when suspected bandits open fire at them. The UBEC boss’ driver was said to have been killed during the incident. There has been no information about other commuters who were abducted by the bandits. Mahmood's freedom was confirmed in a telephone interview by Hussaini Danladi, a relation, who said they were freed from captivity at about noon yesterday. Danladi, however, did not say whether a ransom was paid before their release.
