APC Members in Bayelsa Drag Party to Court over Rights Violation.
Following their expulsion and the non-recognition of their faction by the national leadership of the party in the crisis rocking the APC, 15 sanctioned members today dragged the party before the State High Court in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State over alleging violation of their rights as members of the party.
The sanctioned members are Chief Perekeme Kpodoh, Mr. Sunday Oputu, Chief Linus Opuakpa, Mr. Koripamo Enoch, Mr. Christopher Abariowei, Mr. Harrow Zuokumo, Mrs. Rosemary Okia and Fred Akamu.
Others are Godwin Sidi, Enabuna Timidi, Kingsley Wire, Daniel Oweizidei, Moses Dennis, Prince Awini and Emmanuel Vector Weke.
The aggrieved APC members in the suit numbered YHC/127/2015 and filed on July 27 are seeking an order restraining the APC, its National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, their agents, servants and/or privies, howsoever described, from recognising/dealing with or continuing to recognise/deal with Mr. tiwei Orunimighe, Eddi Julius, Marlin Daniel and Peres Peretu as state Chairman, deputy, Secretary and BoT member pending the determination of the suit.
In the originating summon, the aggrieved APC members named the party and Odigie-Oyegun (representing National Executive Committee of APC) as 1st and 2nd defendants respectively.
Also included in the suit by their counsel, Funlayefa Seibokuro of Faith Dimensions Chamber, Yenagoa, are the state Chairman, Chief Tiwei Orunimighe; his deputy, Eddy Julius; State Secretary, Marlin Daniel and member BoT Peres Peretu, as 3rd - 6th defendants respectively.
In the prayers sought from the Court, "they are seeking an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the 3rd - 6th defendants, their agents, servants and/or privies from recognising/dealing with the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th defendants as State Chairman, deputy, Secretary and member BoT of APC respectively pending the determination of the suit.."
"The claimants further prayed the court to restrain the defendants, their agents, servants and/privies from interfering with and/or abridging their rights as members of the APC pending the hearing and determination of the suit."
