Many Boko Haram Members Have Relocated To Southwest, Suspected Sect Member Confesses

The suspected Boko Haram member, Bashir Mohammed, who was recently arrested in Isua Akoko in Akoko South East  Local Government Area of Ondo State on Tuesday confessed that his colleagues are in Nasarawa and other states in the North, adding that a sizeable number of them have relocated to the South-west, including Ondo State.

The terrorists also disclosed that some influential people in the country often supply the group weapons to use for their illicit operations.

According to him, he had killed two persons since he joined the terrorist group two years ago.

Bashir, 40, made the confession at the headquarters of the Ondo State Police Command in Akure, where he was paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Gbenga Adeyanju, along with some other criminals.

The suspect, who spoke in Hausa language, was arrested by men of  the Special Anti-robbery Squad of the state Police Command.

He said he was introduced to the notorious group by some friends in Nasarawa State where he hails from.
The terrorists said he was arrested while looking for a cafeteria alongside other members of his group in preparation for an operation which the group plans to carry out in the area.

Bashir said he relocated from Nasarawa State to Ondo State with his younger brother who also is also a Boko Haram member after some successful operations.

However, Bashir pleaded for forgiveness as he had repented.

The state Commissioner of Police, who paraded the suspect, said the suspect would be handed over to the army for necessary action.

He said the commitment of men of the state police command led to the arrest of the two suspected Boko Haram members in one week.
The state police boss called on members of the public to inform the police of any strange movement in their areas.

Adeyanju gave the assurance that other members of the group who might be in the state would be arrested.


The police commissioner also paraded 12 suspected cultists, who he said had been terrorising the people of Obaile and Igoba area in Akure North Local Government Area.
