Ex Aide: Atiku Now Leader Of Adamawa PDP

A former Special Assistant to former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Dr. Umar Ardo, has called for the cancellation of the results of the ward congresses held last Saturday in Adamawa State accusing Atiku of hijacking the party in the state.
Ardo, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), made this known to journalists after submitting a petition to the Adamawa State PDP Congress Appeal Panel at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
He stated that Atiku “was involved directly. He called me to say that I should make sure certain persons get these positions. I disagreed. He has hijacked the PDP in the state.
“No election took place in Toungo, Ganye Mayo Belwa, Demsa, Numan, Shelleng, Yola North, Yola South, Mubi South, Michika and Madagali local government areas.
“The Caretaker Committee members representing these LGAs simply sat in their rooms and drew up their list and submitted their names as elected executive members and they were admitted.
“It’s an open secret that the members of the committee connived and simply sat down and distributed the party offices among themselves.”
 Atiku was a former member of the PDP having defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the 2015 general elections.
But in his reaction, Atiku insisted that he had no hands in the problems of the PDP in his state, adding that he had left the party.
“It is ludicrous to accuse a man who is not a member of a party of having hijacked the party structure. Whoever is making this allegation has to look elsewhere for their failings,” he said through his media aide, Mr. Paul Ibe.

Population of Doctors in Nigeria Hits 74,543

  The number of registered medical doctors in Nigeria has risen to 74,543. According to the federal government statistics, as at 2018, the stock of professionally regulated health workers in Nigeria health sector has also recorded a significant increase. The population equates to 36.3 percent of medical doctors per 100,000 population (doctor to population ratio of 1: 2753). Fifty-nine percent of the registered medical practitioners were in good standing with 35 percent being females. UBEC Board Chairman, Daughter Freed from Captivity

The Board Chairman of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr. Muhammed Mahmoud, and his daughter were on Tuesday released by their abductors. Mahmoud, his daughter and several other travellers were abducted last Monday on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway when suspected bandits open fire at them. The UBEC boss’ driver was said to have been killed during the incident. There has been no information about other commuters who were abducted by the bandits. Mahmood's freedom was confirmed in a telephone interview by Hussaini Danladi, a relation, who said they were freed from captivity at about noon yesterday. Danladi, however, did not say whether a ransom was paid before their release.
