The Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has said the presidency lied when they denied their Involvement in the move to force the Chief Justice of Niger CJN out.
In a statement issued by its spokesperson, Ikenga Ugochinyere, CUPP said some court documents showed that Buhari's government allegedly sponsored the move.
He lamented that President Buhari had gone out of control and nothing is sacred to him anymore.
According to him, "The secret move by President Mohammed Buhari and his AGF Malami to force Chief Justice of Nigeria Justice Onnoghen out of office with a midnight motion filed at the Code of Conduct Tribunal last week Friday suffered a huge set back today as the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja presided over by Justice I.E.Ekwo while delivering ruling in a motion brought by Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, spokesperson of the opposition coalition CUPP restrained President Buhari, Attorney General Malami, Chairman of Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar; Deputy Chairman of NJC/Justice Tanko Mohammed and the Code of Conduct Bureau from making any move or furthering any legal action to remove CJN, Onnoghen from office or ordering him to step aside pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit."
"The federal government through the Special Adviser to the President on Media denied our factual allegations and lied to the entire nation they did have any such plan. However their desperation to carry out their evil design is unfettered and they quickly directed their lawyers to file a motion which elementary knowledge of law shows is illegal and one which is obvious on the surface that the Tribunal lacks jurisdiction to grant while still demanding of the Chairman of the tribunal to immediately grant the motion once it is entertained in the tribunal."
Ugochinyere further explained that to save the nation from sponsored anarchy to which President Muhammadu Buhari is dragging the nation that the coalition approached the Federal High Court to restrain any person, group or authority from removing the Chief Justice of Nigeria in any other way except as provided in S 292 of the Constitution and to restrain the President from swearing in any person including Justice Tanko Mohammed as an Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria.
He said: "We are glad to inform you that following long arguments and absolute conviction to the Court, Justice Ekwo of the Federal High Court has graciously granted our prayers and ordered the Parties to maintain status quo and not do anything that will affect the rest.
"By this order, none of the Parties in the Suit is expected to take any steps in any of the issues contained in our originating processes and any such step will be null and void. We shall be meeting all the parties in court on 29th January, 2019 which is the next adjourned date."
He urged Nigerians to call on Chibuike Amaechi, Governor El-Rufai, Godswill Akpabio, Hope Uzodimma, Bola Tinubu, Abubakar Malami, Adams Oshiomhole and President Muhammadu Buhari to stop and think for once about the future of Nigeria and the welfare of her citizens.
