Following the order of an Abuja High Court that he
has been removed as the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate
for Delta South senatorial district, the former Governor of the state, Dr.
Emmanuel Uduaghan, on Tuesday insisted that he remains the candidate, and that he is
not aware of any case in the court about his candidature.
Uduaghan, in a statement by his media assistant,
Mr. Monoyo Edom, said: "The court had no time ordered the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remove the name of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan
from the list of candidates in the election."
According to the statement, "Uduaghan, was
never aware of the case nor was he a party to the case and was never joined in
the alleged suit. Uduaghan has instructed his lawyers to take necessary legal
steps on the matter, even as he enjoins APC party faithful and supporters to
come out en mass to vote the party and all its candidates to victory in the
elections.
"Categorically
he remains the candidate of the APC for Delta South, and we are confident of
winning the election."
Meanwhile,
following the battles between supporters of the APC and the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP) in Effurun, the state government has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew
on Effurun, a neighboring community to Warri.
