Death toll from the fire caused by a jilted lover, Deji Adenuga, who set ablaze a house being occupied by family members of his former lover, Titi, had increased to eight.

Adenuga had allegedly last Tuesday set ablaze his former lover’s house at Igodigho in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, burning to death five out of eight members of the family that were sleeping in the building while three others sustained injuries.

However, those who sustained injuries have consequently died, as the lady is still in trauma as a result of the shock from the incident.

The lady was reported to have called off the relationship for an undisclosed reason, which did not go down well with the man.

The allegedly jilted man was said to have carried out the dastardly act while the family members were sleeping at about 2:00a.m. that fateful day.

The police source gave the names of the deceased as Glory Alade, Mercy Alade, Joy Alade, Adebayo Alade, Aladesewa Alade, Johnson Alade and Ayorinde Alade.

Confirming the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph, said the three people died as a result of the injury sustained in the fire.

According to him, "I can confirm to you that three more people have died, as only Titi survived in the family. For the suspect, we are still on his trail and we will soon get him."

The PPRO further stated that Titi had been admitted in an undisclosed hospital, saying: "She is still in a traumatic state."
