A 50-year-old woman identified as Iya Dunsi was
late last Wednesday kidnapped and killed by suspected ritualists at
Arigidi-Akoko in Akoko North West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
It was gathered that the suspected ritualists, who
abducted the palm oil seller from her house, severed her two breasts after
killing her and dumped her remains in a bush near her house.
The Arigidi incident came just as a middle-age
woman and mother of three simply called Toyin was found dead in her room at
Tipper Garage near Isikan area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The Divisional Police Officer for the Akoko North
West, Adetarami Ibitayo, confirmed the Arigidi incident, giving the assurance
that the perpetrators would be arrested.
Three similar cases happened late last year at
Ikare Akoko involving women with their private parts and breasts removed.
Also last year, an eight-year-old pupil of Saint
George’s Anglican Primary School, Okeagbe-Akoko, was murdered in a ritual
manner.
The latest incident made residents of Akoko area to
call for the overhauling of security apparatus in the area to check the spate
of insecurity in the area.
In the Akure incident, some neighbours of the
deceased said the woman, who was a food vendor in the area, had last night made
preparation for her Thursday's business.
A neighbour, who craved anonymity, said late Toyin
had last Wednesday night cooked beans and stew that she would have sold on Thursday.
The source said the people discovered her lifeless
body in her room during a search for her when they did not see her in the
morning.
The source added that the deceased normally woke up
very early to cook rice that she sold in the area.
The neighbour said two calabashes with concoction
were found in the room of the deceased when the door to the room was forced
opened.
It was further revealed that when Toyin's phone call
history was checked, she engaged in conversation with a particular Muslim
cleric around 1:00 a.m. and another at around 3:00a.m.
Toyin was said to be living alone in her apartment
in an old building after she had quarrel
with her second husband.
When journalists visited the house, the lifeless body
of the woman was laid on the bed while sympathisers were milling around.
