The Lagos state Police on Sunday arrested two suspects, Gbadebo
Jimoh and Malik Adeboye, in connection with the murder of a Resident Doctor
serving with the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Dr. Stephen Urueye.
Urueye, who is a graduate of the University of Lagos
(UNILAG), before his gruesome murder, was said to have been attacked and
stabbed to death by hoodlums on his way out with a female friend at night by
the front of LUTH gate, and likewise dispossessed of his valuables.
According to a statement made available to the media from
the Nigerian Police, as signed by the Lagos State Police Public Relations
Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, “On 4th of April 2019, at about 9.45 p.m., Itire Police
Station received a distress call that some hoodlums armed with knives attacked
one Dr. Stephen Urueye 'm' a Resident
Doctor with LUTH and dispossessed him of
his valuables such as handsets.
They equally stabbed him at his right thigh and
back with knife. The incident happened around Canal Area of Ishaga Road, Idi
Araba in Lagos while the victim was going somewhere with his female friend one Hakeem
Habeeb Simbiat Opeyemi, a 200 level Student of Department of Health Education,
LASU.
The victim was rushed to LUTH Idi Araba where he eventually
died in the early hours of the next day. Two suspects namely Gbadebo Jimoh and
Malik Adeboye were arrested in connection with the case as CP Zubairu Muazu
directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Panti to take over the
investigation.
