Trump Says Child Told him to Build the Wall at Easter Egg Roll

The annual White House Easter Egg Roll took a turn into border politics on Monday when a child — according to President Donald Trump — told the commander-in-chief to build a wall to separate the U.S. and Mexico.
While coloring with children during the event, Trump answered a question about the wall from one young visitor, according to a White House pool report.
“Oh, it’s happening,” Trump said. “It’s being built now. Here’s a young guy who said ‘Keep building that wall can you believe that?’ He’s going to be a conservative some day!”
It wasn’t immediately clear what the exact question was to Trump, or who asked it.
The border wall, along with stemming the flow of undocumented immigrants, are top Trump priorities that the White House and congressional Democrats have clashed over. Trump earlier this month backed away from threats to close the border to stop immigrant crossings, but also raised the possibility of slapping tariffs on cars.
Trump said on April 5 that 400 miles of wall would be built or under construction within two years. The border is about 2,000 miles long.
