The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has lamented the continuous killings of Nigerian citizens in South Africa.

The association led by its Deputy Zonal Coordinator, Aba Owoicho Aba, therefore, protested against the senseless killings in Makurdi,  Benue State capital, on Thursday, condemning the incessant xenophobic killings targeted at Nigeria  nationals in South Africa.

The protesters, who numbered over 100, marched from Wurukum roundabout where they closed down DSTV offices around High level and Wadata areas as well as MTN offices in the state capital.

Speaking with journalists, Aba said they have been mandated to close down all South Africa businesses in Nigeria, including, MTN, DSTV and Shoprite, noting that if Nigerian businesses can not enjoy peace and support to strive just as South Africa businesses enjoy from the Nigerian Government,  then it is only reasonable that all South African businesses should be closed down.

According to him, "It is very painful to see that the citizens of a country (Nigeria) which supported South Africa to attain its independence are being massacred.  Nigeria fought hard to stop apartheid, and now they are paying us back with evil. We will not allow any South Africa business to strive until a concrete arrangement is put in place to guarantee the safety of Nigerians in South Africa. We want to draw the attention of the international community to this dastardly act."

MTN Manager, Vera Obe, in Markudi told the students that the company is deeply worried over the killings of Nigeria in South Africa, assuring them that cogent actions are being taken to nip it in the bud.
