The leader of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC),
Gani Adams, has expressed appreciation to the governors of the South-west states for
their supports to ensure maximum security in Nigeria.
A statement made available to Yellowstone Media stated that
Gani appreciated the governors at the Odo Erelu Meiran Festival in collaboration
with Olokun Festival Foundation held in Lagos recently.
The Yoruba leader also commended the federal
government, the Nigeria Police and the leaders of the region on the recent
development to secure the region.
According to him, "The partnership between the
OPC under my leadership and the police is a welcome development.
"The spate of insecurity in Nigeria is
worrisome, and I want to assure the federal government and the police that we
are ready and are presently working on modalities to incorporate other notable
groups on the project."
"Security issue is sacred, and as a group, OPC
under my leadership will leave no stone unturned until peace is restored in
Nigeria and the South-west region in particular."
He encouraged the people from Meiran Kingdom to
support the royal father in ensuring that the festival, which he described as a
laudable project, is sustained.
"Erelu river goddess, according to the
history, has healing powers. Odo Erelu has a special panegyric power popularly
called 'Erelu Abiye’ Alagbo Ofe, which simply illustrates the healing powers
and prowess of the Erelu river goddess.
"What I am driving at with this statement is
that we should make sure that this festival becomes an annual event that will
later enjoy the best recognition across the country and beyond," Adams
said.
