Ahead of tomorrow's judgment by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, the staff of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday commenced a day-long prayer session, praying that the Almighty God should touch the minds of the justices at the tribunal to deliver their judgment in the favour of the party and its candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The prayer session entered into a full scale, dominating affairs at the party secretariat, the moment the media aide to the PDP presidential candidate in the February 23 election, Paul Ibe,  tweeted that: “The judgment of the petition of @atikuand@OfficialPDPNig
against @inecnigeria @MBuhari and @OfficialAPCNg in the February 23, 2019, election comes up on Wednesday, 11 September."

At the National secretariat of PDP, all categories of staff went on a prayer session with the theme: ‘On the altar with Supreme Judge of Universe’, with bible readings from Isaiah 41: 21, Genesis 13: 4.

A giant poster mounted at the gate of the PDP read: "We are in God's presence entreating His Divine mercy and justice to prevail on behalf of PDP and Nigerians at the presidential tribunal. Date: September 11.

"This is to notify all concerned that the 12 days ongoing prayer project regarding the presidential tribunal (Appeal) judgement which is slated for September 11, 2019, will come to an end on Thursday.

"Consequently, we are all admonished to come out in agreement to fight this course through prayers."

The National Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, is the patron of the PDP chapel as he was the person who built the worship centre when he was the National Organising Secretary of the party in 2011.

At the National Secretariat of PDP, the sound from the musical instruments coming from the chapel rented the atmosphere in and around the environs. The staff prayed to God for a positive judgment in favour of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku.

Also addressing a press conference, on Tuesday, the moment the news came in that the presidential election petition tribunal would deliver its judgement on Wednesday, the Chairman of a PDP supporters group, the Democratic Defenders of Nigeria, Hon. Victor Morrow, enjoined the justices of the tribunal to ensure justice based on the evidence provided during the hearing of the petition.

According to Morrow, "Nigeria must arrive at a position where those who win election legitimately must be allowed to execute the mandate of the people bestowed on them. This campaign is driven by struggles of the oppressed and hungry Nigerians who sincerely want to see the will of the people prevail by allowing the winner of the 2019 presidential election with the majority of Nigerian votes gets justice now.

"We must allow democracy which represents the government of the people, by the people and for the people, to flourish so that the labour of our heroes past and those alive would not be in vain, and importantly, for national unity and economic prosperity.

"In the light of these national struggles, #JusticeNow Campaign shall begin with an urgent call to the international communities and the Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora and other relevant stakeholders to call for the total independence of the judiciary which houses the hope of the common man with regards to the Nigeria 2019 presidential tribunal judgment fixed for September 11, 2019.

"Fellow Nigerians, we seek an enabling environment for justice whereby the crackdown of the judiciary possesses serious fear of 'manipulation’. It will interest the world to know that all fair-minded people who followed the Nigeria 2019 presidential electoral tribunal cannot be in doubt to what the verdict should be on basis of fairness, and that is the reason we appeal to Your Excellency to tell the judiciary to live up to expectations on the grounds of ‘Nigeria First’."
