Twenty academic members of staff of the University of Jos, Plateau State have been promoted to the rank of professor in their different fields.

A statement by the university’s Deputy Registrar, Information and Publication, Mr. Abdullahi Abdullahi, said the promotion which took effect from October 1, 2018, was the outcome of the institution’s recent promotion exercise as approved by its Appointment and Promotion Committee (Senior Staff), chaired by the university Vice-Chancellor, Professor Seddi Sebastian Maimako.

The Academic Staff promoted to the rank of professor are Dr. (Mrs.) Julie Orshi (General and Applied Psychology); Dr. Solomon Abiye Olatunji, (Geology); Dr. Sati Yohana Chanle (Architecture); Dr. Ozoilo Kenneth Nmato (Surgery); Dr. Ngulaka Ndidi Chinyelu (Pharmaceutical Technology); Dr. Habila Elisha Zuya (Science and Technology Education); Dr. Jennifer Drambi Audu-Peter (Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology); Dr. Ojo Emmanuel Olurundare (Surgery), and Dr. Dauda Ayaba Madachi (Pathology).

Similarly, the university has approved the appointment of 30 academic staff from the rank of Senior Lecturer to Readers (Associate Professor) with effect from October 1, 2018.

The university has however frowned at misleading information on the accreditation status of some of its courses being circulated on the social media, dismissing the information as fake, unsubstantiated and a misrepresentation of facts.

The online reports claimed that History and International Relations, Medical Laboratory Science, Biochemistry, and Science Laboratory Technology have not been accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), and are therefore not certified to be taught in the institution.

But the management of the university has stated categorically that the said courses are fully accredited as the accreditation status still subsists until the next round of accreditation exercises.
