A former Governor of Jigawa State and presidential hopeful, Alhaji Sule Lamido, has came hard on ‎the Muhammadu Buhari-led government for “illegally” spending $25bn that was not legally appropriated for by the National Assembly.
In a letter to the President, recently leaked to newsmen, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu had alleged that the NNPC Group Managing Director, Maikanti Baru, awarded contracts to the tune of $25bn without following due process.
Speaking in Bamaina, Jigawa state on Monday while receiving former Ogun State governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, Lamido stated that the sum, which was not captured in the 2017 budget, was spent by an agency of government which claims to be upright.
He also lambasted the All Progressives Congress, APC, for mocking Nigerians, stating that, “it is only in this country that a government that is supposed to be for all would be mocking other Nigerians for criticising it.
“When you complain they will call you wailing wailers, government don’t mock it’s citizens no matter what, rather it should encourage you by at least explaining things to the people,” he said.
Lamido pointed out that Buhari should forever be grateful to the PDP as the incumbent remains “the greatest beneficiary of our misrule”.
He described the APC as an amalgamation of tyrannical, jealous and evil people, stressing that the continued unity of Nigeirans depends largely on PDP which must take over power by 2019.
According to him, “Nigerians most unite to revolt against slavery, hunger and starvation come 2019 and no amount of threat, intimidation, incarceration will silent me from speaking about the wrong doings of the APC Government.”
Daniels was on a campaign visit to Lamido’s hometown in furtherance of his quest to become the Peoples Democratic Party National Chairmanship after the party’s forthcoming convention. He said he was in Jigawa state to woo prospective delegates to support him in actualising his aspiration as the national chairman of the PDP.‎
