Barely one week after the Lagos State Government agreed to reduce that fees paid on land use in the state by half, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said the increase must be cancelled totally as it not only punitive, but unrealistic to be met even at the new rate.

The  state chairman of the party, Chief Moshood Salvador, insisted that the fees are unacceptable and anti people, warning that the people would soon rise against the punitive yoke that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government in the state is inflicting in the name of taxation.

Salvador said  the people of the state are tired of the APC, hence, there is groundswell against the APC not only in Lagos but nationally.

“We are ready to take Lagos State from governor Akinwunmi Ambode. The state government knows that it is no longer popular, that is the reason for the unending endorsements going by the APC. They are afraid, their time is up,” the PDP chair said.

He lamented that Lagos state generates over #50bn monthly from taxes most of which cannot be accounted for. He also regretted that most of the money is being used to develop only the Epe axis of the state to the detriment of other areas, especially the areas where most of the money is being generated, simply because Governor Akinwunmi Ambode comes from the area.

Salvador stressed that what the state
According to him, the first pointer to this is the number of Lagosians that have joined the party in recent weeks.

He said that when he took over as chairman of the party in the state, the party could hardly boost of 20,000 members. This he stressed was the reason the party could not mobilise enough agents at every polling station during the last election.

“But today, the situation has changed. We now have well over 300,000 members on our data base. People keep joining every day. This is the first indication that Lagosians are tired of Ambode and the APC. Let me tell you straight, we are very ready to take Lagos from Ambode and his party.”
