A combined team of the Police and the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have arrested and detained the sacked Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura.
Insiders report that Daura was arrested just shortly after he was sacked by the Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo for “breaching national security.”
Osinbajo had earlier on Tuesday announced the sack of Daura via a statement by his media aide, Laolu Akande, without stating the reason.
It was gathered that the sack was announced while Daura was meeting with the Acting President.
Osinbajo had summoned Daura alongside Ibrahim Idris, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) over the siege laid to the national assembly earlier in the day.
The two security chiefs arrived Aso Rock at different times. While Idris got to the presidential villa at 12;35pm, Daura got there at 1:15p.m.
After briefing Osinbajo, the former DSS DG was whisked away.
Meanwhile, operatives of the DSS have left the national assembly, after a siege which lasted over seven hours, shortly after Osinbajo fired Daura.
