APC Women Leader, 6 Others Killed in Jigawa Auto-crash

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Leader, Hajiya Aisha Tahir of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of Jigawa State and six other party supporters have died in fatal motor accidents on their way from a rally in state.



The women leader was involved in the accident which occurred when they hit a camel crossing the road along Jahun-Kiyawa road.


Also, the other six APC supporters died at Dandamo village in Suletankàrkar Local Government Area while returning from the APC campaign rally held in Hadejia for the Northeast senatorial zone.

An eye witness said the APC supporters, who hailed from Yanzaki ward in Roni council area, died on their way back home after the rally last Tuesday late evening.




He explained that five of them died on the spot while the other one died while receiving medical treatment at Babura General Hospital.

The Deputy Chairman of the party in the North, Hon. Mannir Uba, announced the death of their supporters in a road accident, and described their demise as a great loss to the entire APC family in Jigawa State and Nigeria at large.

Special prayer was also offered for the repose souls.

Drug Insecurity: House Urges FG to Fund Indigenous Drug Research

The House of Representatives on Tuesday urged the federal government to invest more in the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development in order to encourage local and indigenous research. The House also urged the government to revisit the National Drug Policy as a way to promote and boost the medical industry. It directed its Committees on Health Institutions, Health Care Services and Science and Technology to organise a round table discussion to chart a probable course for the development of locally made drugs. Court Stops National Assembly From Taking Over Bauchi Assembly

As the National Assembly received a report from the committee it sent to Bauchi State to probe the leadership crisis rocking the state assembly since its inauguration last month, the state high court on Monday issued an order of interim injunction ordering that the present Speaker and Deputy Speaker, Abubakar Suleiman and Danlami Kawule respectively,   should continue leading the assembly pending the determination of the suit before it. Justice Muazu Abubakar, who issued the order, fixed October 3, 2019, for hearing of the motion and substantive application filed by the speaker, deputy speaker and other 11 members of the assembly who participated in the assembly election.
