The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday said the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Chief Adegoke Adelabu, recently told some of his admirers that some power brokers in his party had assured him that the Appeal Court would declare him the governor-elect of the state.

Specifically, the PDP alleged that Adelabu told some of his supporters in his hotel at Iyaganku that Senator Bola Tinubu had assured him that the Appeal panel hearing his appeal against the state Governor, Seyi Makinde's victory would declare him governor.

A statement issued by the PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Prince Diran Odeyemi, yesterday, which was made available to journalists, said while the party would have treated the disclosure by Adelabu as mere relaxation spot gist, the mention of Tinubu as the person  who gave the assurance has made it imperative for the party to draw attention of the world to the claim.

Odeyemi, who advised Adelabu and whoever that was planning to circumvent the judicial process as regards the Oyo State governorship election, warned that they not to forget the issues that led to the collapse of First and Second Republic.

He warned that any attempt to manipulate the judiciary to favour APC would not work, as the people of Oyo State would be ready to defend, with the last drop of their blood, the mandate given to Governor Makinde.

According to the statement, "We have it on good authority that the APC governorship candidate of Oyo State, Adegoke Adelabu, recently told some of his admirers in a hotel last week that Tinubu had promised him that the Appeal Panel would declare him governor of Oyo State.

"Sincerely, we would have treated the disclosure as a statement coming at an excitable moment at a relaxation spot, but the mention of Tinubu as the main actor negotiating for Adelabu to purchase the judgement makes it necessary for us to tell the world the story.

"We hope those behind this plot will learn from issues that crashed both the First and Second Republic, and desist from act capable of truncating peace of the ‘Pacesetters State’, as the people of the state will be ready to protect one of them ho they massively voted for even with the last drop of their blood."
