The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kano State has disclosed that eight fake members with fake certificates have been uncovered, saying most of them could not express themselves nor defend the certificates.

The state Coordinator of the Service, Alhaji Ladan Baba, said eight corps members were denied registration over an allegation of fake certificates.
Ladan, urged the Federal government to as a matter of fact find ways of addressing rampant cases of fake certificates.
The NYSC coordinator added that this is highly inimical to educational development in the country.
Speaking on Monday at NYSC permanent site in Kusalla of Karaye local government area of the state on Monday  at the closing ceremony for the 2019 Batch “B” stream 11, disclosed that out of 1,700 prospective corps members deployed to Kano state, 1592 were registered.

He further disclosed that a good number of them were blocked online as a result of failure to defend their degrees as foreign-trained after physical verification of their results.

”More worrisome is the fact that some of them do not undergo any academic pursuits, but obtained certificates through illegal means with allegations that some did so in Kano and environs”

“This will undoubtedly require urgent action by the government and the good people of Kano in collaboration with the dogged security agencies in the state to checkmate this ugly trend that will affect us negatively, “Alhaji Baba said.
He also called on corps members to focus on ways they could contribute positively to nation-building and do away with the desperation of acquired fake certificates noting that there is no shortcut to education.
In his address also, the state Governor. Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who spoke through state deputy Governor, Dr. Yusuf Gawuna, at the occasion, said the government would continue to ensure adequate security in the state and live up to our statutory responsibilities to NYSC.

The governor, directed all government ministries, departments and agencies, local government areas and even private organisations not to reject corps members posted to them for their one year service.
