The presiding Bishop of the Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Francis Wale Oke, on Sunday raised the alarm about an alleged sinister plans of the “agents of darkness” to cause chaos in Ibadan in particular and Oyo State in general, after the Court of Appeal judgement on the governorship election was delivered recently.

The cleric described the judgement of the court as "neither here nor there," stating that he is neither for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) nor the All Progressives Congress (APC), but for god governance.

This is as he also disclosed that God has commanded him and the church to organise a three-hour fervent prayer for the state on November 30.

Bishop Oke stated this during the thanksgiving service to mark the annual press week of the National Association of Women Journalist (NAWOJ), Oyo State Council.

The service had in attendance the Oyo State Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Chairman, Adewunmi Faniran; his vice, Sola Oladapo; the NAWOJ B Zone Vice President, Morenike Tony-Esan; Oyo State NAWOJ chairperson, Jadesola Ajibola; former state chairpersons, Adekitan Adeagbo; Foluso Lala and the Deputy Director (Programmes) of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Mrs. Bolatito Joseph, among others.

While commending journalists for the efforts and fight to enthroning democracy and good governance in the country, Bishop Oke assured them that churches in the country will join the media practitioners in the fight against corruption, nepotism and in defence of the country's democracy.

The clergyman called on the National Assembly to ensure that they do what is right over the  plans to propose death penalty for hate speech, stating that Nigeria does not need such draconian law which he said is best seen as a means to stiffen the voice of opposition and freedom of expression in the country.

According to him, "The recent judgement of the court of appeal on the governorship election is neither here nor there. Even the lawyers are complaining as both parties are claiming victory at the court.

"The forces are only waiting for something sinister or negative to happen at the Supreme Court. So, God said we should call for prayers for peace in the state.

"I am not for PDP or APC, but I am for God and good governance in the state.

"I have told the state Governor, Seyi Makinde, that if he fails to do what is right for the people, we will pray him out like others. I have told him that what I only need from him is good governance and he is trying his best. I have assured him that I will hold him by his collar to make sure he delivers to the people of the state.

Speaking earlier, the Oyo State NAWOJ Chairperson, Ajibola, said thanksgiving is an opportunity to present the association and its members before God to thank Him for goodness, mercy and protection as parts of activities for the 2019 press week.
