The factional All Progressives Congress (APC)
Chairman loyal to the party National Chairman, Adam Oshiomhole, Col David Imuse
(rtd), at the weekend explained the removal of the Edo State Chairman of the party,
Mr. Anselm Ojezua, by the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party, saying “because
he relocated the activities of the party to the Government House with decisions
about the party taken even before meetings were even called.”
However, Ojezua described Imuse as a “shameless
impostor” who he said was contracted to do a job and did it badly, noting that
majority of the members of the SWC are with him and that he would get justice
in court.
Speaking at a rally in Opoji, Esan Central Local Government
Area of the state where members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by
Prince Tony Omoaghe defected to the APC, Imuse said the APC became a parastatal
of government, insisting that due process was followed in his removal and then
suspension from the party.
Addressing the gathering, Imuse said: “After the
elections, we knew there were a lot of problems in the party, so at the level
of SWC under the chairmanship of the former chairman, we called a meeting and
decided that we must remain neutral so that we can serve as credible mediators.
We were to engage all our members that were aggrieved so that we will know
their grievances, whether it is against the party or against an individual in
the party or against the government or individuals in the government. With what
we would gather from them, we were going to have a template to confront all
issues.
“But two weeks after we took that decision, the
former chairman took sides with the governor; he was no longer coming to the
party secretariat; he was now more in the Government House than the office he
was elected to serve.
"Whenever they called party meetings at the Government
House, we would just hear that the party has taken decisions, meanwhile the
party is not aware. Agenda for meetings were no longer known to the SWC which decides
agenda for meetings. We were no longer in the know of party activities. In most
cases, resolutions would be drafted before meetings are called, and when you
get to such meetings, the attendance list will just be attached to the
resolution they have drafted and one would be informed that party has taken a
decision, so we felt that this was abnormal.”
However, reacting through phone yesterday, Ojezua
said Imuse is a shameless impostor with dictatorial tendency.
According to him, "If anybody has the tendency
for such dictatorial actions he ascribed to the state governor, it is Adams
Oshiomhole.
"In all my years in politics, I have never
seen a governor as democratic as Godwin Obaseki, who always insists that he
will abide by whatever decision the party takes even when we want to concede to
him. Imuse is a contractor who was given a job to do but did it badly and that
is why I am in court. I am confident that I will win and I can tell you that
majority of the members of the SWC are with me."
