Former Chief of Army Staff during President Olusegun Obasanjo administration, Lt Generwl Victor Malu, is dead.
According to a family member, Bem Adoor, in Makurdi, Malu was said to have died early on Monday at Cairo hospital in Egypt.
He was said to have traveled to Cairo two weeks ago for medical check up before where he died early Monday.
Malu who has been battling ailment relating to stroke over the years, was a commander, ECOMOG Peace Keeping force in Sierra Leone and Liberia from August 1996 to January 1998 .
Born in January 15, 1947 in Katsina Ala local government of Benue state, he was appointed Chief of Army staff May 1999 to April 2001.
In 1967, he enrolled into the Nigerian Defense Academy, Kaduna as part of the 3rd regular course and was commissioned second Lieutenant in 1970.
Malu chaired the military tribunal that tried former Chief of General Staff,Oladipo Diya in 1998 over alleged coup plot against the the head of state, Gen. Sanni Abacha
